Jawa Tengah
Central Java is a province located in the heart of Java Island, officially established in 1950 with Semarang as its capital. Known as the cultural core of Javanese civilization, the region preserves strong traditions, language, etiquette, and customs passed down for centuries. Since the 8th century, Central Java has been home to major ancient kingdoms such as the Medang (Mataram Kuno), responsible for building Borobudur and Prambanan — both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Today, Central Java blends heritage, spirituality, agriculture, and modern urban development through cities like Semarang, Surakarta (Solo), and Magelang.
